EACMFS Notification of Scholarships and Awards

We would like to draw your attention to the following scholarships and awards which are currently available to Trainee members of EACMFS and those who have successfully completed training as specialists within three years of the date of the application. This includes Junior Trainee and Undergraduate Students (JTUS) together with Specialist Trainees.

John Lowry Congress Scholarship (500 euros)

Helene Matras Congress Scholarship (800 euros)

This award is limited to the following Eastern European Countries:
Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine

The above two scholarships made on a competitive basis on the recommendation of the Endowment Committee are designed to support Junior Trainee Undergaduate Students (JTUS) and Specialist Trainee Members of EACMFS (and those who have successfully completed training as specialists within three years of the date of application) in their participation in the biennial Congress of the Association.

The Scholarship awards should be used for the registration fee and the remainder towards travel/accommodation. Candidates should have submitted an abstract for the presentation of a paper or poster in the main scientific programme and a copy of this and its acceptance is required with the application.

Each applicant should submit a curriculum vitae highlighting career aspirations and contributions already made to the specialty together with the aims, objectives and the gains anticipated from participation in the Congress. The award will be presented officially at a high profile event in the main auditorium during the biennial EACMFS Congress and successful candidates will be expected to attend this.

The deadline for the applications will be on the 30th June preceding the Congress.

Leibinger Prize presented by Stryker (announced at the Biennial Congress)

The Leibinger Award is designed to support a period of targeted education and training away from the host programme in order to gain further experience in the fields of maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, head and neck oncology, or craniofacial reconstruction.

  • Duration variable

  • €5000.00 per awardee to cover travel and accommodation at the host centre

  • An additional amount of €750.00 per awardee to cover travel expenses so the recipient can deliver a verbal, post-visit presentation at the EACMFS Council dinner or another agreed event.

  • Restricted to Junior Trainee Undergraduate Students (JTUS) and Specalist Trainee Members of EACMFS (and those who have successfully completed training as specialists within three years of the date of application)

  • Award made on a Competitive basis at recommendation of the Endowment Committee

  • Deadline for the applications 30th June preceding the Congress

Hugo Obwegeser Travelling Scholarships

  • Restricted to Junior Trainee Undergraduate Students (JTUS) and Specialist Trainee Members of EACMFS (and those who have successfully completed training as specialists within three years of the date of application)

  • To assist with travel and accommodation expenses for visitations to other countries up to a maximum of 2000 euros (NB: proof of expenses required by provision of receipts)

  • Scholarships made on a competitive basis at the recommendation of the Endowment Committee
